Tucker Park - start track pattern

I tried to relax and enjoy his happiness before we started the tracks. Left River home to have Duck & Mommy time as he loves it. Duck was very excited to get to the start articles. Had him on the shorter 6 ft leash. I hoped to not stifle his enthusiasm for this tracking game today. So, I actually gave him food at all start articles even with his nice down indication.

He did the turns better with scuff out of the turns and food drops. The food did slow him to a better pace for me. It seemed he would cast more on the tracks close to the tree/bush break line. So, on T1 & T2 he went straight past his turn. But he got tighter turns with the last 2 tracks.

Overall it was a fairly warm day, low humidity and he was happy. And, I smiled as I followed on the straights, final articles and then on the T3 T4 turns too.

Really glad you and Duck had a positive outing and that you had a smile while tracking - as that is part of what it's all about! I know you were on the short line for this one so not sure you had a chance to work on some of the line handling we talked about last class. During a couple of your practice sessions before next class, try to set them up so that they are well marked with at least one or two long legs so that you can take that opportunity to practice feeding out line and moving back u…
