S5W20F10 on 3 start tracks , 2 left turns and 1 right turn
First time using this field, and there were sidewalks and cut outs in the curbing with only dirt leading to the grass/weeds. Tried not to go close, but stuck to same SWF pattern due to this possible challenge.
So, there really did not appear to be a challenge for River. She just worked the tracks with what for her was nice efficiency. I am seeing her snap her head to look at the right turn and only go a short distance before correcting back to the track. On the left turns, she snapped her head to the left and almost immediately turned on to the track.
She now expects to get a fetch reward following the end of the track as she's looking intently at me for a toy or ball. I give her food on the articles, which she enjoys but ball is the best. I hesitate to put it in an article ... as maybe she would pick up the article but I'm afraid of losing the down indication.
Oooh…I am afraid that River will then forever after finding that ball 15 yards out just bypass the article and head inward to look for the fetch ball.
Maureen, in the past, I’ve put my dog’s toy (in my case, a frisbee) about 15 yards past the article. So find, and indicate, the article, then track on to find the toy….with which we would play enthusiastically. They seemed to understand the rules pretty quickly-indicate, track, toy, play.
