cloudy, 60F, dry short grass, light breeze
Plan: 3 start tracks(300 yds total) with a food drop in mid first leg to help keep focus on track. We had a great 1st track with nice start, right turn which he went just beyond it and coursed out to right after picking up his head, nose, then he turned and swung back into the track. On 2nd track, we had a dogwalker and dog on flexi leash cut across our track because the dog had to leave a poo deposit 10 ft from our turn corner. Duck is getting the hang of this dog interference thing. He calmly came back to me when I called him, and sat quietly next to me with his line changed to his collar. They left and I move line back to harness, plus rescented him, although I'm not sure he really needed it. He put nose down and followed the track with a sweet tight left turn and continued to the empty article. He did down indicate and got a bunch of chicken strip. The 3rd track had the longest first leg, and he did turn around for that food drop in mid first leg. His right turn had less coursing than on the first track.
Really just a fun experience today instead of frustrating. What I was expecting to be a challenge, was not a big deal. Classic example of why you train fundamental skills and seek out different scenarios & situations.
Next, I will likely do a stair step or top hat.
