3/14/2023. Huguenot Park

49F, very breezy 6mph up to 16mph gusts, dry short grass

Plan: Do start 2 tracks with 90 degree turn and first leg longer with 1 food drop than second.

Reality: What's that saying about the best laid plans .... dad with his toddler picked up my track 1 end article and put it by that track's turn flag. Picked the start article too, but I saw that and asked them to please put that down by the flag. Oh, and so I got some cross tracks from both of them going diagonally across the track lines. On track 2, they put my start article at that track's turn flag. Crazy as it was already at the start flag... sigh, no way of knowing what went through that toddler mind.

My start track became a 4 turn track with extra articles. And, another reason to carry extra articles as I swapped out the start when and let Duck sniff the one from my pocket. At the former end article area, I was ready to toss out another one but that wasn't necessary as he kept moving on the track although he paused, maybe scent pool still there. I did keep his line at 10-15 ft as I wanted to prevent wandering off on other scent.

Outcome : Duck stayed on the correct track coursing at the 1st turn where the dad and child had been standing. Oh and he had a good start. He was quite focused on the right scent for the great majority of the track. He did down for all 4 of the articles, only one had food. And, he found the only 2 mid leg food drops.
