Time laid 2:30 pm

Time run 2:45pm

Temp. 74F, fairly high humidity, dry ground, short grass

Goal for track: Doing start tracks for straightaway and turn work.

How did it feel?

Where to start…it was a mix of happy and struggle for me as even though he is 8 he still can pull me quite easily. Really I was a bit sad afterwards as I did not realize how much we have to do to get back to prior skill level.

Duck’s positives: He did take water prior to starting. He was very excited prior to the start flag. I am happy that he is once again enthusiastic about tracking. So 2 positives. And, the negatives we need to work on. He sat at too many of the start articles before deciding to down. He had portions of good nose down on the track. Positive #3. He also let scent distract him and wanted to pull that way so need more food drop and concentrated scent. Overall, he was a happy boy during the activity.

We are going to improve our start indication with article exercises. We are going to do single turn tracks with lots of SWF reinforcement….hoping the ants will go away or continue to ignore the freeze dried beef. Thinking of S8W10F5
