Field near Cabelas, Short Pump, Henrico area
72F, 81% humidity, some short grass, some longer weed areas, trough & slope in ground on 4th track
S5 W30 F15 on 4 start tracks with 90 degree turns, three left turns and one right turn.
Duck was very focused today. He was so excited to track that he just paused at the first start article and headed out. This first leg took us through some higher weed area so I did drop extra food, which he did stop lift his head and course back and forth in the area. Then he found the food and stepped out with his head down. Head up again, this was the turn, he went out to the right and then back to the left, pulling on the track line. He downed nicely to indicate the end article. Actually, for the remainder of the articles he down
Indicated. The second left turn was tighter, so that was a nice surprise. On the third tracke, he just nailed the right turn. On the final track, I tried to give him some water as he seemed like he needed it, but I only was able to splash some on his snout. Anyway, he was tight taking the left turn on this track, maybe as the entire track ran parallel to the slight slope of the ground.
I was very pleased and surprised at the success, enthusiasm that Duck had for working the track. He was totally focused on only tracking. He wasn't very interested in the food for most of the track. Maybe, I will change the pattern and only add extra when distractions are there or changes in terrain.
Next time, I'll give him a high top shape or stair step track.
