Track recovery practice @ Hidden Rock Park, Maidens, VA
Warm temp., dry short grass, dogs in dog park nearby track
On 11/18 Duck went down the false leg, but then head up and air sniffing. He turned around right into the correct track. On second track, he picked up his head, paused for a second and then did a perfect pivot into the track path on to the left.
On 11/19, there were 3 tracks. On the first, he went forward through the turn, but stopped and coursed back to the track on the right.
On the second, he raised his head at the turn, sniffed ahead on the dead end and put his head down to head into the track off to the right.
On the third, he picked up his head, turning to the right and continued in that direction. It was the dead end and he halted with his head up. Then headed back to me, so I backed up a few steps and pulled in the line that I had let run, maybe to far. Once he got closer to the actual next leg, he did lower his head and then pulled on the true track.
He has downed for all articles, both start and end. Now he's laying with the article under his rib cage instead of out near his paws, which is a subtle, but new body placement.
This was the 3rd recovery track outing, so next time he's going to get either a start track set or top hat.
He's just so happy to do a track. He really doesn't care if it's short or long, turns or straight. It's a party for the Duckman.
