Post tracking class track in tall, dry grass, sunny, warm, breezy
No scuff, walk only with 1 food drop middle of 2nd leg.
Duck was super excited to be on site as he no doubt remembered class here last year, actually, maybe his nose remembered. And, he did a really great track, considering my use clips created a challenge for him to work through.
At the start, he was ready to track just sniffed above the article and headed out with his somewhat mellowed Duckman exuberance. He's trucking along and then lays down and looks at me. So, I was confused and then I got closer and realized he's indicating the clip as an article. I reward him and he gets up and goes forward. This is wrong but last year I only had mid track articles on straightaways, so he learned a pattern. I gave him line and then his head went up...loss of scent so he turned around came back and caught the scent, took me on to the left turn into the 2nd leg. This was the longest and had a food drop which picked up. And, down he went for the 2nd clip. Again, he continued forward, noticed he didn't have the scent, head up now, and he coursed to the 3rd leg. I expected the down at the last clip and got it. Tried to give him water with food but grabbed the hot dogs no interest in only water. This time he headed forward , but did not go too far, only about a yard, and got on the final leg. He did check out the dark green grass clumps on the track by going more slowly, but kept moving to the end. No food in final article so he downed right away.
Not sure if I should use clips to mark my turns. Duck was no nonsense as he moved quickly and finished the track pretty rapidly considering the warm day and sun. He drinks a bunch of water just prior to starting the track, but we do have to work on taking a drink along the track.
Also, I may have to include River tracking info here as her website is a blank white page.
