When you think something is no longer a challenge but a slightly different set up makes it one…lol. 🤪

Did approximately 250-260 yd track with 3 turns, 1st leg 80 yds, right open turn; 2nd leg 120 yds over ditch with water and paved path, right 90 turn; 3rd leg 50 yds, left 90 turn, last leg was only one with article.

53F, 6 mph wind, 18 mph gusts but it was windy the entire time we tracked. River was with the wind on the longest leg.

Aged an hour.

Outcome:

I had a flag at 30 yds and River went left into the wind as she got near the flag. I let her go and then she went right and came back around and continued on the actual track. She went beyond the first turn, but quartered right so she got the track. Moving along well and then we hit the ditch challenge. Thank you for those instructions on my last post!

River was reluctant to step or jump over the water. There was food drop on the other side too. So, I gave her line and she chose to go left along the ditch and crossed where there was no water. And, then she found the food drops so we moved on with the wind. She went past the turn but her head went up and I quit moving gave her some line. So she went right correctly but wasn’t really moving confidently. I about to step off and tell her good girl, but she swung back and went to check left. River went back to the right so I gave her line and this time she was pulling with confidence. Hit the left turn without hesitation and I let line run, she glanced back as if checking for me. Maybe line awareness on her part that the tension was not directly behind her. But, I’ve deviated from just the facts. River checked out the soccer cone, decided it wasn’t an article then moved on to down indicate for her article glove. 🧤

It’s so lovely when they turn and look back.

You crack me up, deviate from the facts!! Sounds like a successful outing. I'm betting the glancing back is because your feet are still as you let out line (which is correct but she isn't used to it). Following the ditch difficulty means an easy track next.
