Track#1
Track#2 - no video
Track#3
49F, 49%humidity, 5 mph west wind with gusts to 10mph. Dry, short weed cover.
Goal - take H2O prior to track; changed walk pattern, want her spine along the track. Aim for better handler delivery of treats. Try a turn on T3.
River snubbed the water with the treat in the bowl each time. Using 5 ft leash.
She downs to indicate the articles, so the article game exercises in the morning are helping with that aspect.
All tracks are S3W10F5.
T1 - length 75yds- She did fair in the track. I noticed at one point she was off the track line and i didn’t stop moving as quick as I should have(confirmed on the video). She did get back on the track.
T2- length 90 yds - So bummed that the video didn’t work for this one, black screen isn’t helpful. But, River did stay on the track much better than on T1.
T3 - 75yds, left 90 degree turn, 45 yds
So noticed that my delivery is a bit better. However, the Velcro on my glove gets caught in the Velcro on my vest pockets so that’s really a disadvantage for reaching into the pocket. Probably going to put tape or something on the pocket Velcro to eliminate this problem.
Worked On the last portion of the first leg, River stopped sniffed a lot right in front of me, and then moved quickly to my right and tried to circle around behind me, but then came back in front and kept going in the track line. She kept going and at the turn she found her left turn with a nice pull into it for me. Really happy that she didn’t cut the corner. Maybe the handler is improving as when she was going along that first leg, I actually noticed that she lost the scent and was looking for it. She was very on the track line for the second leg.
On all tracks, River seems excited to get going from when I move the leash to her harness she wants to just get moving, which is an improvement from last season.
Next track - change SWF to S3W12F6 & try a right 90 degree turn, unless instructors give me other suggestions.
Both tracks looked good. She starts nicely and seems to have a nice rhythm. I liked her article indication. Good job!
Have you practiced giving her water with whatever vessel you are using without tracking? In other words, I use one of the water containers with attached bowl and I have been getting Gracie used to it without tracking. Now that she is familiar with how it works, we have been more successful using it. Just an idea.
Track 3 was lovely. She checked off the track and you stopped. The turn was beautiful. I didn’t see anything wrong with track1–she was so tightly in front of you I actually couldn’t see her, which is good!
