Short dry grass, no wind, mild temp 58F, afternoon noon sun, no shade area on tracks.
Goal: trying for straight spine on track line
T#1& T#2- heel to toe for 4 steps, drop food along 50 yd straight.
Started at car, harness on and 5 ft leash, working on water prior to track. Today she took one lick with chicken piece placed on side of bowl. She turns her head away if the food is actually in the water. T1 start she sniffed around the flag a bit and no article so she did start the track.
River started out straight on track but then moved to be just to left of track to turn her head to right for food pickup. At end I put leash back on collar and back to car. Picked up my T1 flags. Got River out again. Didn’t want water, T2 behavior was very similar at least to my untrained eye. She felt that she moved just to the left of the track sooner than T1. Fingers crossed that the videos of these tracks are viewable to my instructors.
T3- I broke rules about changing the step pattern. Reason for this is that Duck tracked on 11/22,23. Heel to toe and then SWF. Duck did the turn to the right for food pick up or turning around, but was great on SWF with left turn. See Duck blog for video.
Back to River, S3W8F4 with articles. So much better than T1& T2 as she moved at a quicker pace and was more focused, stayed on the track in between the food. She down indicted the articles.
I agree that T3 was better, but could it possibly be that it was the third track and dog was getting the hang of the exercise? I thought T2 was better than one. Anyhow, it is nice to see your progress.
I agree, I liked #3 the best too. So SWF it is. However,….she was eating at every third step of yours when you ran it…which doesn’t translate to S3W8F4–we should see eating about every 8th step.
