Sunny day and no significant winds, very dry only 28% humidity.

Added 2 different glove articles into the 10 article drop.

Our goal is for better down indication without prompting on Betty’s article track exercise. We did 3 rounds.

On round 1, River did not down on her own for the newer scented white gloves. This got better on round 2&3.

Overall she was much better at down indication than she’d been in class and the day before.

Next article exercise will probably be the randomly tossed articles that we walk around and find in our path.

Here enthusiasm is tied to whether there will be ball toss/Fetch to follow. Yesterday did not show her a ball or fetch toy and she was not excited to do articles.

Today, I did show her that the ball was going into my pocket. Going forward in training, I will likely put her ball about 10 yards from the end of her tracks. Last year this seemed to spark enthusiasm and more dedication to the track.

Below are links to the 3 rounds.

We worked in the house and in backyard on a mix of randomly scattered old and a new articles, glove & cell phone case. The strategy Jenn recommended worked ! Both dogs ended up doing down indication

Nice job getting some sessions in! I couldn't hear in the video if you had to do a verbal prompt or not. Assuming that you really only needed to do it for the newer white gloves, then she looked great (even if you had to do it for a few other articles). Nice job having the treats ready and tossed on the article! So, I think I'd take a break on this style article-game for a bit and instead use the one Jen described in her comment from the other day and the ones that Mary Ann has posted under the Training Exercises tab. When you eventually work this style back in, I'd focus on trying to stay where th…

I will definitely work in the other article games.

Next time I’ll do 2 turns with likely initial leg as the longest.

So last year she knew from repetition that she’d get to look for the ball 10-15 yards away. Then I switched to having it in my pocket and tossing it for her as a reward instead of food at the end article. So this year I’ve only had it in my vest as we’ve worked. She seems to know if it’s on my person…probably the smell. But, she’ll be super excited to search for her ball and play after the main activity.
