Since River was so hesitant to Down indicate at clas without a prompt from me, we are working on article indication per MAM’s advice.

very windy and gusty day with the wind going mostly across the line of articles. I also set out some different articles , old cell phone cases, in the mix with gloves, socks on dirt. This was not smart on my part. River hesitated at the first article so I had to prompt her and put my hand on her back. On ward where she gave the first cell case a slight head turn sniff and continued on. She couldn’t go far only a foot as I did have short leash. So I told her to find her article and when was right next to it I told her down. She ignored me so I bent over and put my hand on her back. Same thing a few articles later at the next cell phone case.

On the positive with the gloves and socks she had more immediate downs than not.

Next time out, another article game.

Top hat track laid by Betty. Had one blind turn, the others were marked with low flags. This felt pretty good and I kept calm even at the blind turn. Determine to watch River for LOS and investigating

Agree with Jen...work on the articles away from tracking and her set up with folding in the more difficult articles is great! Nice job though taking MAM feedback to heart and layering in some article work.

That's a great observation that some types of article are better trained at this stage for her. I would also recommend doing article games in the house with the types of articles she's not as sharp on. Start with an easy article then bring in a more difficult or new article before switching back to another cloth- type article. Always sandwich harder between easier to set her up for success!
