short grass weed mix, 67F windy
River did S5 W20 F10 on two 90 degree tracks, 1 left and 1 right.
Unplanned distractions: Couple walking on nearby path ahead. A dog on leash and owner gave us a cross track on the 2nd leg of the 2nd track.
T1: Solid start off the flag considering the cross wind. She did slide downwind of the track on 1st leg but really only about 2 feet. As we got close to the turn. So, head up and went right, downwind but she stopped stood and then did a 180 to head on to the tracks left turn. Picked her head up mid leg, a couple was walking the path ahead to the right. Down indication for the article.
T2: Downed for start and turned her body, saw the couple sitting and fixated on them in protection mode. Hooked the line back on collar and took her away from the start. Got her to focus on me and went back to track. Put line on harness approached the start flag. She downed and headed out on the track, slightly on left downwind. Fairly efficient right turn, and then hit the cross track from the other dog and owner, but it didn't seem to impact her as she just kept her even pace to the article and downed. She did such a lovely job today that she got food at the article and a ball. This seems to work as a reward at the final article. Also, she got some of the food but wasn't overly concerned with finding all of it
Plan: go to park with pedestrian and dog traffic and alternate start tracks with multiple 2-3 turn tracks. Not sure about doing 4 turns, but she'd likely not be phased.
Will try to post video on YouTube as it's likely too long for here.
