Hidden Rock Park, sunny, breezy, and 65F but felt hotter.
Set of 4 article tracks with right turns. Last year this was an empty field but the humans have figured out that the can use it for a sport so lacrosses goal nets are there….very sad but it gives me more double line up options against the trees in the background.
Video links to T1, 3 & 4. I tried to start the video with my watch and that didn’t work for video of T2.
T1 began near the dog park and I should’ve had a plan for if dogs arrived when we were starting bc that’s what happened. Fortunately their people quieted them. I let her focus on those dogs before I put the line on her harness which worked out well. River did not obsess with them. A few yards in the track, she did air sniff into the breeze and all the other tracks were in that direction. I stood still and she went back to tracking.
River seemed excited to find some food in these tracks so she was going at a nice even pace. She seemed very confident, had to turn or slow down to get the food drops and by the last track she actually skipped over some of the food dropped. She downed for articles. I wasn’t sure if she should get food from me at the start articles so I had a slow delivery especially on T1.
At the end articles she downed more quickly for those without food hidden inside.
I tried let out some line at the turns to let her make choices, but handler didn’t do a great job.
River did a nice job on a warm day. If there are ants left out in the grass, they did not want any freeze dried beef. It is fun to work with her as she learns quickly. Plus, she works in a fairly calm manner without pulling in a harsh, crazy way.
Next time I’ll put out starts with left turns and remember to let out more line as we do the turns.
