Challenge is aged just over 1 hour. 2 turns, both left 90 degree, article on leg 2 & end.
Video:

Outcome & Positives:
First time River has taken water before running the track. It was also warmer, 58F. She also took water after.
When on the track she was very focused and pulling into it so I knew.
On last part of first leg, she pulled hard left but wasn’t at the turn. Then, in this wandering I see her all over the place movement LOS. I tried to be patient and let her work on finding the track. I also have to remember to back up to help.
Awesome down indication at article on 2nd leg. I just petted and praised her, she was waiting for food or ball, but got back to tracking when I told her to find more.
On 3rd leg, person was sitting in pergola and then walking behind us, which River noticed but she did get to the track.
Downed at end article and got ball reward.
Negatives:
From video I saw that I didn’t let the line run out enough at the start. Think I did better on the turns, but again it could run more. I didn’t back up enough on the 1st leg. And, it had a major challenge that I didn’t know about. Afterwards, guy sitting nearby told me that group of people had been sitting on blanket out there with kid running around. This was where River was all over the place.
Plan: Definitely doing long first leg on next track with right turns. Will down an article on leg to work on restarting tracking and if it’s warm will try giving water too. Not sure if I should add extra food drops on latter third of first leg.
I wondered the same thing.
If she did indicate the turn but was off a few feet, would not going and asking for exactness, cause River to become frustrated and cause behavior to deteriorate?
Just wondering.
From the distant video I can’t tell what happened at the first turn—did she turn early or overshoot? I suspect I might have gone with her to see if she’d correct back to the leg—she seemed pretty darn sure she knew where it went.
