69 F (yes, really in January), warm day which River prefers, partly cloudy, only light breeze and soft, moist soil, grass
River - no scuff, only 1 food drop on each leg of 2 90 degree right turn
Challenge wa ps her working in this warmer temperature. She did not track last spring in warmer weather, but she doesn't mind playing fetch in warm temperatures so I was pretty sure that she'd work well. She was also playing fetch while I laid her track, so this was a test of transition from one activity she loves to anther and then back to fetch as her reward. I did not put her fetch ball at the end of her track or further behind the end. Her track paralleled the dog park fence and there was another dog in the park.
River actually moved from fetch to tracking with no problem. Surprised me. Maybe she enjoys tracking more than I thought. She paused and looked at me at the start article and then went on the track. I let the line go out to 20 ft., and so when she went a few feet beyond the turn and turned side ways to the right . I stopped. I wasn't close to the turn. River went right only a few feet from the turn 😀. I cut the turn diagonally. Same thing happened at the next turn. She is doing so well. Maybe soon we can get all the turns and get a certification. But, I'm a believer that thinfpgs happen for a reason, so whenever it happens, it happens. After her track she happily trotted back into the dog park for more fetch. She makes tracking as zen experience in contrast to Duck who makes tracking a glorious event as every turn is a dramatic moment. He did well on his track today and I think that he appreciates the time he gets to track and is maybe learning to not lead his mom on a sniff adventure that's unrelated to the track.
