Video - partial track, last turn and leg not in view

34F 51% humidity 1 mph WSW wind, 3mph gust, track has all snow covering of 1-2”

S5W20F10 Age on today’s and yesterday’s tracks was minimal, 15 minutes.

Challenges:

I walked right into a poop pile area on first leg so there was that and the animal human scent. Later, picked up that huge pile as I collected my flags.

Also, there were animal tracks but the unexpected challenge was the bicycle tire that kept crossing the track. I didn’t think of this as a disruptor to the dog, but it was for River.

Outcome:

At the area of the poop pile 💩 and tracks, River was all over, left and right, finally got herself beyond it and back to the track.

Bike tire really got her attention on the initial encounter. Second encounter was much better she got back to track quicker and the third time she only glanced and then ignored it. River learned to work through the bicycle tire across the track.

I wonder now how many other scent challenges they encounter without me even realizing it.

River was also more enthusiastic to get to the start today than yesterday.

In general, I can notice that River’s movement style when she’s on the track, as I feel her legs churning in quick steps and her shoulder pull on the leash. In contrast to Duck, she doesn’t put as much force and speed into the tracking movement. In recent tracks, she does do a lot of body, head shakes. Really very helpful to me as I know she’s trying to work the track.

Will keep the same SWF.

as much as i hate the snow, it sure is giving you an opportunity to open your mind to the possibilities of many 'scents' on a track! for that i am grateful. you are doing a nice job with your line tension and following. the video from 1/9 was listed as private, no worries.
