We had a track recovery exercise ! So great, loved this one, hoping it’s added to the training exercises.

Since it had 2 turns I wanted to keep my head down, watch the dog and not look ahead to the where the turns or articles were located.

Food drop in mid leg with walk only, no scuffing.

Positives:

River had nice down indication for all 3 articles.

River recovered the track quickly after the mid leg article.

She was enthusiastic & persistent in taking me on the track.

I did a horrible job not reacting to River. I made her go right multiple times before I went with her. So, she went to the left the wrong way. And finally she pulled me right and I followed. Poor dog must get so frustrated with me.

I hoped for better reaction on my part at turn 2, but this track only had the single turn. So, I didn’t get another chance to improve…sigh.

Plan to work on duration in particular a longer first leg as I suspect that River is patterned to ~50 yd legs and checks to the sides for turns.

Also, no food drop mid legs, per MaryAnn just random on one leg if I drop any. Please correct me if I misheard this advice.

Top hat track laid by Betty. Had one blind turn, the others were marked with low flags. This felt pretty good and I kept calm even at the blind turn. Determine to watch River for LOS and investigating

Love that you started your summary with some positives and detailed things you liked! You didn't do horrible, you misread your dog. We all have and will! Don't be beat yourself up over it...just watch the video a few times to focus on her behaviors when you don't go with her right away when she shows you the turn so that overtime you'll recognize her behaviors more readily. She's looking a great and confident even when you didn't follow along at that turn.
